Nokia just announced today that they are releasing three new Bluetooth headsets, the Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-803, Nokia Bluetooth Stereo Headset BH-604 and Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-602, all are expected to be available sometime in the third quarter of 2007.

The pricing for them will be 140-160 euro (201-229 Candian) for the BH-803, 120-140 euro (172-201 Canadian) for the BH-604 and 75-90 euro (107-129Canadian) for the BH-602.

There's been scuttlebutt on the Internets over the last few days over the revelation that Apple embeds your iTunes Store ID in the new DRM-free tracks it's selling. It's true, the info is right there. This is shocking to some. It's as if Apple and EMI actually want to discourage you from sharing their DRM-free files on peer to peer networks. Say it isn't so.

Amazon announces long-rumored DRM-free music store

Amazon dropped the bomb today by announcing its DRM-free music store. The previously-rumored store will be launched sometime "later this year" and offer unprotected MP3 files for purchase. The Amazon music store, which does not appear to have a name yet, will offer "millions" of songs from over 12,000 record labels.

Puretrack takes lead in rights fight

Toronto-based Puretracks Inc. announced it was selling MP3 files from independent labels without digital rights management (DRM), or the technology that restricts how a song can be copied and transferred. Initially only 50,000 of its 1.3 million tracks will be sans DRM, but will grow weekly. The songs will also be playable on devices they previously did not work on, such as Apple Inc.'s iPods, and the offering will grow to include tracks from major record labels.

Peter Gabriel is one of the founding investors of a new music download service that offers tracks for free to users who are willing to listen to ads. The service, called We7 for some reason, offers MP3 versions of tracks with advertising attached to the beginning of songs. Four weeks after downloading the track, the user can then download a version without the ad. Artists get paid by the advertisers, music lovers get free tunes, and advertisers get to reach music lovers.
