If you have anything illegal (
I'm sure that I don't have to elaborate on what's "illegal") stashed away in your car, then you better not leave those burnt CDs laying around in plain sight.
According to
this legal document, Mr. Carmas Jonah McLaughlin was convicted for the possession of marijuana with intent to distribute after Officer Goins observered "several compact disks (CDs) in the car" (
as well as a semi-automatic pistol which, if you read, has nothing to do with the conviction.).
Officer Goins suspected the CDs were "pirated," because they were in a "poor quality made CD case with the labeling."
Another Officer testified and said "'based on [his] training with the recording industry the thin cases and the homemade labels in the cases led [him] to believe they were bogus CDs.".
Thanks to the legal system having some sort of a clue, the conviction was later reversed.

Even though this isn't Canadian content, I thought it was worth posting.
Accroding to
IPac, "This will be a busy week in the House -- Congress goes into summer recess Friday, but not before considering the Section 115 Reform Act of 2006 (SIRA). Never heard of SIRA? That’s the way Big Copyright and their lackey’s want it, and it's bad news for you."
In a nutshell, SIRA would require you to pay a license for every copy you make (ie: Mp3s) of your own music from the original source that you have already paid for.

FutureLooks.com has a
write up on
ELP's Laser Turntable.
From one of the quotes on their site: "
The ELP Laser Turntable is unique in that it uses laser beams instead of a phono cartridge to play the traditional analog LP records. When the LP record is well maintained, the ELP laser turntable can reproduce music that is at par with or better than the Compact Disc."
If you think you might be interested in buying one of these puppies, you better start saving up, because it has a starting list price of $15,000US.

"
The CRIA (Canadian Recording Industry Association) is

the industry is paying the price for it. It may explain why their last press

Those bold steps include the "misinterpretation" of study about file-sharing and
the loss of sales, and end the private copying levy, which allows us Canadians
